AND THEY’RE OFF ……
The weekend of 5th and 6th June were days filled with blood, sweat, tears and blisters for some Buller Jeffries’ staff!
First off the starting blocks was Caroline Coates who took to the Cotswold hills in aid of St Basil’s. Team “Over the hill” completed 28 miles of undulating countryside which involved two trips to the pub (we are told to “top up water”) and finished in 12 hours exactly. The team raised £950 for the charity that helps young homeless people in Birmingham.
Next off were Geoff Lewis and Joanne Wright running the Great Midlands Fun Run (although there’s not much “fun” about running 8 miles!) in aid of St Mary’s Hospice. Over 2000 runners participated and the course was successfully completed by both.
Finally Pam Knowles, Carol Allen and Deanne Wildsmith set off to pound the streets of Birmingham in aid of Wounded Soldiers in Afghanistan. This event took place along the Birmingham Number 11 route. A gruelling 26 miles were strutted out by all 3 complete with neon legwarmers, gloves, earrings and tutu!. The day began at 9.20am and finished at 5.45pm. The girls raised around £735 for this well deserved charity.
All that remains to be said is that a good time was had by all for worthy causes with the added bonus of healthy glows (and achy legs) for Monday morning!
